Comfortable and convenient to go to any where else.
We have stayed at this hotel many times before over the past 15 years. The quality of service has fallen rapidly just lately to a point where we will never visit again. The room was dirty with shower curtains filthy. Breakfast used to be international but is now concentrated on Asian food for the Chinese influx. Out of the 11 floors only one floor is designated for non smoking , which we requested and did not get. The smell of smoke in corridors was offensive. Maybe the new guests in the hotel are satisfied , Royal River beware when they no longer come.
Non Fusher in the toilet
Wide balcony, we can enjoy comfortable wind from the river because of old style. Many of other latest hotel can"t do that. Some of them can not open the window as well.
We can watch nhk World, not nhk Premium, so it's only English but not Japanese. There are only fixed shower in the bathroom. I wanted to use shower with the hose.
My memory of it. I started to be a customer of the Royal River more than 12 years ago.
Services: (i) average waiting time for a taxi: more than 30 minutes; (ii) No table lamps functioning the room; (iii) outdated television (only 4 cable chains available); (iv) inability of staff to provide information on Bangkok and specific events; (v) very low level of unedrstanding of foreign languages (e.g. french, english); (vi) food quality rather questionable; (vii) absence of bookstore where to purchase souvernirs, handycrafts, etc..; (vii) outdated internet(WIFI access system; etc.. Payment of bills (credit cards): the effective payment should not be done before arrival.
Having stayed at the hotel several times since it opened there were no surprises. The lack of the evening buffet on the terrace was a dissapointment as was the poor river boat service from the hotel, this used to be better organised. The reception staff were less fluent in English. The hotel could do with a refurb....
I liked the terrace fronting water.
Extremely poor room not even a kettle Run down place, not a 4 stars place very unreasonable accommodation I blame greedy management Not staff.
I like very much Royal River Hotel and we enjoy the river view all the time and feeling relax, very comfortabel when we got into our room. We stayed Deluxe river view room on fith floor and the view is really nice and beautiful. Hotel staffs are very helpful and warmly welcome. I will stay at this hotel again when I back to Bangkok next time. Very nice hotel.
Staff Cleanness Food Facility like fitness, pool
Not much at all. It's old, showing its age but the rooms are generally ok. Clean enough if you don't have a white glove handy.
This is not a truly bad hotel but it could be much better. The standard of some aspects of the hotel has decreased badly in recent years. The breakfast used to be excellent. Now it is very, very poor. The hotel staff in the Breakfast room (Phang Nga) have no idea about customer service. Those who should speak at least some English often speak none at all. Try to ask for bacon for example. It's like no-one has ever asked for bacon before in a dining room that does serve it, every day. And, when you've explained that you actually want bacon, you'll find that what's presented is quite inedible because it's been kept warm possibly for hours before it's served, and it's served only when it's asked for. I don't mean just that the bacon is not cooked to my liking. I mean something other than a strip of something that snaps like a twig. I truly mean inedible. Rooms are just ok and reception staff often unhelpful with little English. Yes, I know it is up to we farangs to speak Thai and I accept that. But, in hotels and major stores where a large number of guests and customers speak English, it would appear to make a lot of sense for the hotels and stores to employ staff who can help that large number of customers with at least a passing acquaintance with English. It all comes down to customer service which is still regrettably a pretty foreign concept in Thailand. I will also have a bitch about the lack of free wi-fi internet at the Royal River. Many or possibly most hotels offer free wi-fi at least in the lobby these days. Not so at Royal River. I recently bought one of their internet cards which was supposed to offer five hours of internet time for the 300 baht I paid for the card. Let me say that I was very careful to log off at the end of each time I was logged in. I am quite certain that I had no more than three hours internet use instead of the five hours I was expecting. I complained to the staff about this but they didn't understand my concern.
rooms r very big and excellent .,it is river facing and it is very beautiful
only complaint was the cold pool and hot tub
